The Choking Game

This isn’t really a game you want kids to play, but it turns out that 82 kids have died playing the choking game since 1995. This is really crazy and couldn’t believe it when I heard it on the news. It seems like kids have started playing this game that involves the simulated strangling of themselves or their friends.

See, once you get strangled, right when you pass out there is a rush of euphoria when the blood rushes back into the oxygen starved brain. It’s too difficult to tell just how long you can strangle someone before they die and this is what has lead to the high number of these very alarming deaths. I just really can’t believe that someone would be so out of it that they would strangle themselves for a rush.

Branching Out of TEFL

There is a very good thread on the ELT World Forums about branching out of TEFL and doing some small business on the side. For anyone involved in the TEFL professional long term, this is a good idea. TEFL work can be a very tough profession and jobs can come and go very quickly. That’s why it is important to come up with a business on the side where you can always have an income coming in.

How can you do this? I’d start today identifying those things that can make you extra money. Be prepared to examine them fully so you can see how well they could integrate into your lifestyle and your location. Ask other teacher. Maybe talk about your ideas on a forum, anything you need to do in order to learn more.
