English Opens Doors in Chile

English Opens Doors is a program with the Chilean government to put native English speaking teachers in Chilean schools in an attempt to improve the level of English instruction. It’s an attempt to push the teaching of English to a new level. It’s an innovative solution to English teaching in Latin America.

A cautionary TEFL tale

Many TEFL course providers evoke images of carefree travel, adventure and exploration into their advertising and entice many young college leavers to sign up for a TEFL course and sign up for adventure. The Guardian has a cautionary tale about one adventure minded school leavers who took the plunge and found out that there is more to adventure in a TEFL career.

One of the best ways to keep in contact with friends and family when you set out abroad as an English Teacher is with a blog. A good blog allows you to post pictures and stories about the places you see, the people you meet, and the stories you have to tell.

TEFL International Good or Bad?

TEFL International has made it in the TEFLWatch Hall of Shame recently, it begs the questions, does it deserve it? Should a tefl course provider be inducted into the Hall of Shame for its business practices rather than just for the quality of its courses? This is a big question and I don’t know if TEFLWatch properly answered it. What do you think?
