My New Life Back Home

It Doesn’t Cost To Be Clean

I have done a lot of traveling in Asia and Latin America and I saw firsthand that poverty and dirtiness went hand in hand. I realized that the visible poverty that I saw was a case not of the lack of money as much as the lack of education. My mom always told me that it doesn’t cost to be clean.

I see that much of the abject poverty is to accompanied by a lack of cleanliness. Parents will let their kids swim in trash infested waters and then fret when their children got sick. They will let the dirt build up around their home and not try to keep things clean and then wonder why they are getting sick.

I am sure some people can claim that the depression from the grinding poverty is causing them to ignore cleanliness and maybe that is so. Maybe people need to get some happiness, but remember that money can’t buy happiness.

Thinking about this has changed my whole outlook. The poor need to know the truth more than anything and that means finding the Lord.

Save Money With International Calling Cards

If you make a lot of international calls, the best way to save money on your calls is with international calling cards. These cards specialize in destinations and are able to give the best possible rate for calling those locations. It really is the cheapest way to call internationally.

Easy Communication No Matter Where You Are

I have always been intrigued by satellite phones. They allow people to stay in contact no matter where they are. I find it so amazing that this technology is not only available now, but that it has been available for years. I have done some looking into it when I was abroad and looking for internet options while traveling in remote areas. This was a few years back and looking into this again, I am surprised at how much satellite phones have advanced.

I checked out the Mackay Satellite site and took a look at the options available. There are so many different options available from Iridium to Globalstar to Immarsat to VSAT terminals. The prices have come down significantly making it even more attractive. It seems there are lot options nowadays to stay in touch and connected no matter where you are. I think I can say that finally satellite phones are a viable communication solution.

I love Baseball and Spring Training

It’s March and one of the things I love so much about being back home is baseball. I have done a lot of traveling around the world, but the one thing I miss most about the states in baseball. Spring is a time of new beginnings and those new beginnings begin with a new season of baseball.

Spring Training takes places in Arizona and Florida. After living several years in Phoenix, I am impartial to Arizona spring training. To fully appreciate and participate in spring training, you need to devote a few weeks to it and really get to know the players and catch the action. To this end, checking out Scottsdale rentals is a great way to find a comfortable home away from home.

Scottsdale Fine Properties has a nice collection of vacation homes that make your spring training vacation even better. Scottsdale is close to all the action and has some of the best homes in the Phoenix area. Hmm, now if I can just convince my wife that we need to make a trip to Arizona.

Traveling While Teaching

The thing I miss the most from my time teaching was the opportunities that I got to travel to different places. It truly was a lot of fun. When classes would end on a Friday, the weekend was open for travel and exploration. It really was as simple as that.

Where to go on the weekend? It meant asking other teachers what locations were the best or maybe even asking where the good shopping was. It seemed like there was always something to do.

Now, looking at the coming weekend, I feel bored and it’s just not as fun traveling around back home. The newness just isn’t there.
