Getting Into Shape

Back home now, I am getting more concerned about the shape I’m in. I let my body get really out of shape when I was abroad. I didn’t control my diet well enough and my health started to fall apart. That’s something I have been able to avoid coming back.

I am finally able to make sure I am eating quality food and that I am getting the exercise I need to stay in shape. This change is only the beginning. I am also loosing weight and I have felt a burst of energy like never before. It all started with getting into shape.

Train Yourself

Lately I have been talking quite a bit about training. You can take training courses that cover a broad level of topics. These training courses will help you get a better job and can be a huge help when making the career adjustment that you face when coming back home from a stint abroad. Many of the training ideas I have suggested have been courses in educational institutions, but that doesn’t have to be the case.

You can train yourself. It’s really simple. Find an area that you are interested in and start studying it. Read all the books you can find, find information online, interact with professionals in the field, and try to get hands on experience. It doesn’t take long before you become proficient in the area and that proficiency can open doors in the job market.

Granted this won’t work for all jobs, but it will work for some and can be worth a try if you don’t have access to more formal educational opportunities.

A Career in Corporate Training?

It’s always surprising whenever I meet a former TEFL teacher who came back home. I always ask them what kind of career they found and how they made their adjustment. It helps me with ideas to share with readers on this site and that’s just what happened a few days ago when I met up with one former teacher.

Maybe I shouldn’t say former teacher because he is still involved in teaching, just not teaching TEFL. He is in corporate training. Instead of teaching English, he is teaching business training programs. The pay is very good and he is using the skills he honed in several years of teaching abroad. He is definitely a success story in coming back from abroad.

MCSE Training Opens Doors

I have been mentioning quite often that the best way to make a good adjustment to life back home is to get training that will get you a good job. For me, I chose to undertake real estate training. If you are computer or technology included that MCSE training might be the training you are looking for.

MCSE is the acronym for Microsoft Certified System Engineer. It consists of a series of exams that demonstrate your knowledge in Microsoft related products. MCSE certification opens many doors that can lead to good paying positions. Taking these exams, though, requires quality MCSE training like what you can find at Global Knowledge. They have the experience and know how to give you hands on training that wil not only help you build your skills but also help you do well on the exams. It’s a good path to a future career.

Health Issues Back Home

One of the things that I really didn’t prepare for when I came back home was health insurance. Living abroad so long, most of the time I didn’t have health insurance, but it wasn’t a problem since health care was cheap enough just to pay for out of pocket. Not so back here in the states.

I am lucky that my job provides health insurance or else things could be very tough. It’s amazing how expensive health insurance is. The price seems to have gone through the roof. I can’t understand how some people afford it. It seems like something does need to be done about the health care problems here in the states.
